A few children did the “sink or float” activity using the acorns Cass recently gathered and brought to school. The acorns that float are put into one bowl, and those that sink are put into another. Only the ones that sink go on to the acorn cracking tray with mortar and pestle, to be cracked open to harvest the nut meat- for processing into flour, if we get enough. Those that float are tossed outside for play, and to share with the scrub jays and squirrels.
